“With the help of Ride for Charlie I was able to make my way out to the Junior World Series race in Nals, Italy. After making a big effort this year to get points I was gridded first which allowed me to have a better chance of being at the front before single track sections. The course was very challenging with a long single track climb and then straight into a technically rooty and slippery descent which made recovering even more difficult. From what I’ve heard this race is normally dry and dusty hence the name ‘sunshine race’ so it was a little shock when it was raining and muddy. However, I enjoyed these conditions despite making the course very difficult. In the race I was able to stay at the front of the race until the descent on the first lap where I was unable to get past slower riders and this meant a big chase up the climb on the second lap. Unfortunately after closing the gap I payed the price and was unable to follow the leaders over the top of the climb. In the end i’m very happy to have come 3rd against a strong field and gain some more experience. Thank you Ride for Charlie!”
