Xan at Tabor

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to be given a spot at Tabor World Cup in the Czech Republic. On Friday evening I flew with my two bikes to Prague, due to the drive from home to Tabor taking 16 hours!
Arriving early allowed for a leg loosening spin on Saturday before dialing in the course ahead of the big race. The course was slick and ran super fast despite the fair amount of climbing completed each lap.
The race itself didn’t quite go to plan, being involved in two crashes in the first half a lap, pushing me towards the back of the field. I had to fight to make my way back through the field from 50th up to 33rd. By 2 to go I found myself in a group of riders who battled around the race. After spending energy early in the race to catch back on, in the last lap I lost contact with the front of my group and finished in 39th place. Whilst I’m happy with my ride I would have liked to have placed higher but its a long season and I’m excited to see what the rest of the season holds.
The chance to travel to and race in Czech Republic is something I will always remember thanks to Ride for Charlie who enabled me to accept the spot and race at the Tabor World Cup. For that I’m incredibly grateful.
