“Recently, with the help of Ride 4 Charlie funding I travelled to Belgium and to Holland to race my first cyclocross races in Europe! On the Saturday we travelled to Meulebeke to race in the Ethias cross. We arrived in lovely sunshine but it wasn’t too long before we had cross weather. The junior girls raced in the same race as the elite women for the televised event and I loved the course, it was tough but fun and I was happy to finish 18th overall and 2nd junior.

Next was a 3 and half hour drive for the next race in Gieten, Netherlands. After a late night, I arrived a Gieten in the pouring rain for an early course practice. Gieten is a super prestige race and was on another level, I raced in super cross rainy weather with proper muddy and sandy cross conditions which made the course hard work but I loved racing in all of the sand and with loads of spectators. A super tough race again and very happy to get 5th junior and the first first year junior.

Thank you Ride 4 Charlie for enabling this trip to happen, it was something else and I am sure Charlie would have excelled in those proper cross conditions!”
